WHAT’S THE JOB? REGIONAL ASSESSOR MANAGER (SCOTLAND & IRELAND)

WHO’S THE EMPLOYER? An industry shaping organisation focused on prioritising animal health and care from farm to fork, endorsing and promoting the best standards of animal welfare for UK farming.

WHAT’S THE INDUSTRY? Livestock

HOW WILL I BE REWARDED? This is a home and field-based role leading one of 3 regional Field Assessor teams. WHERE IS THE ROLE LOCATED? The region includes Scotland and Ireland and includes significant amount of travel with in the regional and other parts of the UK from time to time.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE ROLE? You will lead a team of around 10 people that will be the regional face of the RSPCA Assured scheme, supporting membership-certification, annual assessment, investigatory and monitoring visits to uphold the RSPCA Standards for farm animal welfare to ISO:17065 certification approval levels

This is a people orientated role that will include recruitment, ongoing training, and development of your Field Assessor team. As Regional Assessor Manager your will have significant autonomy to shape the dynamics of the assessor team to the meet demands of the region. You will lead in setting priorities for your team while ensuring team members have clear operating processes and procedures, including their personal welfare and biosecurity. Your role will be to support and motivate your team to meet deadlines and objectives that will ensure strategic aims relating to field assessment are met.

WHAT QUALITIES DO I NEED?

  • Experience in the line management of a professional team
  • Demonstrable competency in applying HR policies and practices within your leadership of team
  • Commercial livestock production experience at management level and familiarity with the food production industry
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder skills, building and maintaining relationships that support organisational objectives
  • Demonstrable focus on continual professional development, both your teams and your own
  • Commercial & strategic mind-set, open to opportunities that add value, with a sensitivity for managed risks
  • Proactive leadership and planning, ready to take the initiative and focus on objectives and delivery
  • Quality orientation with a high attention to detail
  • An ability to motivate and empower your field-based team
  • A natural communication style adapted to individuals or groups to create confidence and clarity in regional objectives
  • An open and flexible demeanour supporting a resilient team culture in the face of changing demands and conditions
  • The ability to independently organise your own work routine, with good administrative skills
  • A keen attention to detail, with first-rate communication skills at all levels
  • You should share the animal welfare values and ethics of the RSPCA Assured scheme
  • An availability to travel extensively within your region with a current full driving licence
  • A working knowledge of RSPCA Assured scheme and other farm assurance schemes is desirable
