Job Description

WHAT’S THE JOB? FIELD TECHNICAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST

WHO’S THE EMPLOYER? Highly respected blue chip manufacturer with an extensive global presence, excellent product portfolio and a highly visible focus on pushing the boundaries of technology in agricultural machinery development

WHAT’S THE INDUSTRY? Agricultural Machinery (Tractors and harvesting equipment)

WHERE IS THE ROLE LOCATED? UK with regular travel within the UK & ROI, occasionally overseas

TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE ROLE? Working within a well-resourced and experienced service team, this function is focussed on supporting dealers and end users with a range of up to date technical competences including diagnostics, trouble shooting and repairs of complex agricultural machinery. You will provide first-class technical support and training to dealers, including best-practice repair solutions, technical and performance feedback to colleagues, as well as preparation and installation of machines to ensure optimum field performance and operator knowledge.

WHAT QUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS DO I NEED?

  • First and foremost, you’ll be a skilled technical professional having developed your career either in the dealer network or with a premium brand manufacturer, have undertaken regular technical training and achieved a high standard of technical proficiency with modern, complex agricultural machinery
  • You’ll have a recognised agricultural engineering qualification to complement your practical engineering experience
  • You’ll understand the importance of accurate report writing and fault reporting in order to effectively feed back field technical issues to technical and engineering teams, and we’ll expect a good all-round standard of IT literacy including MS Office and manufacturer service / warranty systems
  • You’re seen as an effective problem solver with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Up to date technical experience with tractors is a key requirement, including practical experience of a wide range of time-sensitive field service situations. Good overall knowledge of electrical systems including Canbus, engine management systems, precision farming and diagnostic fault finding are core areas of competence
  • Hands-on experience in operating tractors and machinery is preferred, and you’ll have a good all-round practical appreciation of field operations including precision technology systems
  • You’re a practical team player, capable of adapting to a variety of situations, with a high level of self-motivation, resourcefulness and problem-solving ability
  • You’ll have an outgoing and empathetic personality, show a calm manner and a strong customer service-focussed work ethic in order to manage complex breakdown situations
  • A full clean UK driving licence is required, you’ll reside in a central location in the UK, and be flexible on demanding travel requirements during busy periods
